Goodbye Dodgy DIY: 4 Ways to Build like a Boss

Our houses are full of small and mighty projects that we are always meaning to get to, but we never get the chance. We look at the wonky pictures that are hanging on the walls and the broken chair which needs piecing back together, but we never feel quite prepared to tackle them. It is a proven fact that women can do DIY in fact, we are often more efficient at getting the job done than men! All you need to do is get yourself geared up for a day of DIY by following these simple steps.

#1 - Top Up Your Tools

You won’t be able to tackle the big jobs without the correct tools and equipment so make sure you’re stocked up with the relevant saws, spanners and screws. #2 - Read and Research

It sounds cliche, but you should start brushing up on your DIY knowledge by reading up on how to do certain handiwork. There are also a ton of amazing television programs that you can actually learn a lot from, too. You will soon feel like an expert after reading expert advice and watching step-by-step guides online or on TV.

#3 - Practice and Plan

Before you go full force into a huge project you should start practicing on the smaller stuff. For example, instead of building your kids an outdoor playhouse for the garden first of all you might want to start smaller. Perhaps a little stool for their bedroom or a tiny side table would be an ideal place to start. Your confidence will build up over time and then you can start planning out your bigger projects once you’ve become acclimated to the prospect of tricky DIY jobs.

#4 - Be Bold and Brave

You have bought the correct tools, done the research and started with a small project, now it is time to put your skills into action. You can start to be bold and brave, from interior design change ups to building your own furniture. Use your creativity to express yourself and embark on new creations for your home. You might want to start a magazine subscription or follow a YouTube channel for new ideas and inspiration as you continue your DIY journey.

Now you are ready to attack those irritating jobs that have been lying around the house for months on end. Don’t leave it to your partner to fix it, hang it or build it, you are the ultimate girl boss builder who is ready for any challenge ahead.
