9 Quick Ways to Get Healthy Fast

Staying healthy can sometimes be difficult. However, often the food and activities we crave the most are the least healthy for us. Fortunately, there are some simple methods that we can all follow to help keep us healthy. They won’t need you to spend hours on them, and most are relatively simple and straightforward that anyone can start getting healthier right away.

Vegetables--

Eating veggies are one of the leading ways you can stay healthy. Eating your 5-a-day means that that you get enough nutrients and vitamins each day. Whether they are roasted, boiled, stir-fried or cooked in any other way, so long as you consume the recommended amount each day then it will help to keep you healthy. If you have favorites and prefer to stick to those, then that is fine. However, vegetables with the strongest colors such as cabbage, broccoli, carrots and leafy greens contain the most significant amounts of vitamins and nutrients so these could be an excellent place to start.

Reduce Fatty Foods--

Stopping eating foods that are high in fat is a great way to be healthy. Stop ordering so many takeaways or cut out visits to fast food restaurants could be a significant first step. These kinds of places serve meals that are high in trans and saturated fats, both of which are bad for you in such high quantities. Being mindful of what you are eating and understanding its effect on the body is one of the best ways you can start to become a healthier eater.

Eat Superfoods--

Superfoods like chia seeds and flaxseed are high in vitamins and minerals that the body needs. You could take the smoothie route and drink a cocktail of superfood each day. However, things like chia seeds have no taste, so can be added to your meals. You won’t even notice they are there, but they will be helping to keep you healthier. Superfoods are easy to come by these days and can be bought in bulk and stored for later use.

Take Supplements--

If you are struggling to fit the required vitamins into your diet, then you could purchase some tablets to supplement your diet. These tablets contain all of the good stuff that you need and can just be taken with a glass of water after or during a meal. Taking omega-3 tablets are an excellent choice for people who don’t enjoy eating fish as they often struggle to get omega-3 in their diet. Another substance you could try is Shilajit. This is a mineral found in the Himalayas known to help protect the heart, promote brain health and can even protect against cancer. These sorts of supplements can go a long way to helping you to be healthier.

Eat Slower--

This might come as a surprise, but eating your meals too quickly is bad for you. People who eat fast are more likely to have a higher BMI and consume more calories on a daily basis. By simply slowing down during meal time a study found that people would eat around 12% fewer calories. This is compared to chewing 40 times per bit instead of only 15 times. Now, 40 times may seem excessive, and you will likely not do that for every bite but taking your time over your meal and not rushing it has been scientifically proven to help you consume fewer calories.

Exercise Daily--

Having a short period of exercise every day goes a long way to maintaining your health. You don’t need to be running a marathon or lifting excessive amounts. Just enough to get your heart racing and for you to feel out of breath is enough to help reduce cholesterol and improve bone density and promote healthy muscle growth. As little as 10 minutes per day has been seen to make improvements to people's lives. However, if you can do more then it will only have a positive benefit on your life. Getting an exercise tracking device and competing with friends is a great way to motivate each other to do more exercise each week. Products like Fitbit monitor everything you do in a day and can even track your heart rate and how much effort you were putting into each exercise period.

Get a Massage--

Scientific studies have shown that a 45-minute massage can help to improve your immune system. It causes an increase in white blood cells that help to fend off viruses and bacteria. There was also a reduced amount of the substances which trigger allergies, asthma and inflammation. It also helps to reduce stress and make the body healthier. Something as simple as getting a weekly 45-minute massage could make a massive difference to your overall health.

Sleep--

Getting enough sleep is paramount to your overall health. Lack of sleep can lead to sleep deprivation which in itself can lead to serious health issues. This means that getting enough sleep each night could not be more critical. If you find that you struggle to fall asleep in the evening, then try turning off electrical devices such as the TV and smartphones before bed. These screens slow the creation of the hormone that makes you feel sleepy. Instead try reading a book, doing a crossword or listening to a radio show. It is also essential that you have a consistent sleeping pattern as this will not only help your body know when to fall asleep but will also help with your general health.
