..::Product Review::.. Maple Holistics Argan Shampoo & Conditioner

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE REVIEW:  I was provided with the opportunity to test out the 'Argan Special Formula Shampoo & Conditioner' from Maple Holistics, and let you guys know if and how it works.  There are many other options available on their website, but since I have really long and dry hair... naturally, this was my first interest!

After all of these years, I really never shared my hair care routine with you guys.  Well, I'll go over it really quick.  You know, a basic snapshot so you get the idea of where I was prior to this review.  My hair is really long.  Not 'past-the-shoulders' long, but the 'can-almost-sit-on-it' type of long.  It's also a very special type, too.  It's oily from my scalp to my neck, and then dry from my neck to my lower back.  This really puts a damper on my routine.

Here are some of my hair care rules:

º I never use the same shampoo more than twice in a row.

º I use a quarter-sized amount of shampoo on my roots and a quarter-sized amount of conditioner on my ends.

º I wash my hair Monday, Wednesday, & Friday.  I deep condition/hair mask on Sunday.

º I rarely use heat, and if I do, it's ionic.

º I rarely brush my hair.

º I add a little argan oil to the ends, a little of the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum to the top, and Aveda Detangler through the length.

That's about it.

Before I even begin the 'official' review process, I would like to share my first impression notes:

+ The bottles are kind of small.  I usually buy huge bottles from Ulta.  Each bottle contains 8 fl oz of product.

+ I love the smell of these!  I typically love the scent of anything associated with argan oil, and these are definitely amazing thus far.

+ There were not any directions for the conditioner.

This shampoo/conditioner set can be found here and costs $19.95.  Shipping is free with any order over $25.

Here is a little bit of information about this shampoo/conditioner set from Maple Holistics:

Our Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner set gives you the best of both worlds! Experience our winning hair care formulas, featuring nourishing argan oil, in both shampoo and conditioner form. Our set will provide you with a total and comprehensive hair care experience to turn even the most stubborn locks soft and luscious.

The shampoo and conditioner set arrived in a bubble bag with a set of little information cards to prep me for their use:

Each bottle has a push cap dispenser:

Both the shampoo and conditioner are transparent when you look at the physical blob in your hand.  The shampoo is the clear-er looking on on the left, and the conditioner is on the right.

Before I used this set, my hair was pretty gross.  It was time to wash it again, and it didn't have any 'life' in it at all.  To be fair, it was in a bun all day, so it was kind of wavy from that.  Here are some before pictures of the roots and length:

The shampoo said to use a quarter-sized amount through the scalp and let it sit there for a few minutes.  No problem.  I did that, and then did the same with the conditioner (but only on the ends).  I did not notice that my hair was softer, that it smelled better, or anything.  It was just normal, I guess.

To give this shampoo/conditioner a fair shot, I did not add any additional product (like my usual argan oil, Paul Mitchell Serum, or Aveda spray).  I also just slept on it wet because it was bedtime when I got out of the shower.  I will be honest and say that my hair felt kind of dry, so I was expecting to wake up to a knotted mess.

I told you earlier that I do not use heat (unless it is a special occasion, and it's usually not), and I typically don't brush my hair unless it is a knotted mess.  When I woke up, my hair was actually just like normal.  I did notice that I had a ton more volume, and a lot more shine.  The fragrance from the bottle did not last, so it sadly kind of smelled like boring hair when I woke up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE GOOD:
+ Absolutely no negative/chemical smell from the bottle.
+ Extremely voluminous and shiny hair without extra product.
+ You only need to use a little bit.

+ Formula is hypoallergenic and made in the USA.

+ Moisturizing and balanced for all hair types.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE BAD:
- The conditioner did not have directions on it (as far as a time to leave in in the hair).

- The fragrance does not last long after washing.

- Does contain Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) as the third ingredient (in case you are sensitive to it).
