Ways You Should (and Shouldn't) Save on Your Style

If you’re looking to keep things cheap and cheerful, you might be thinking about saving money on your style. If that’s the case, there are lots of options, but while some could be great choices, others could leave you looking a mess. So, let’s explore the ways you should and shouldn’t save on your style.

DO - Use Less Makeup

There are many benefits to using less makeup rather than the obvious money-saver. First (and perhaps most importantly), it’s actually better for your skin. If you stop using makeup, your skin will regain its natural oils, and this will help you look younger for a lot longer. If you want to find the fountain of youth, the answer might be to stop using so much concealer. Although, you’re definitely going to save a lot of money by doing this in the process. Just think about how much you spend on makeup every year. Besides, some people actually look far more radiant and attractive without it.

DON'T - Stop Shaving

This is for guys more than girls, but it could be relevant for both. You see the problem with eliminating shaving from your style routine in No-Shave November. The no shave November rules from 99centrazor.com includes the rather helpful point that not everyone can grow a beard. It’s true, some men can’t grow it all over their face, and it looks ridiculous. So, if you stop shaving, you are going to start to look like a complete mess because there is no guarantee that you’ll actually be able to grow a full beard. You won’t actually be saving much money because for a beard to look good, it does need to be maintained and this means you’ll have to buy other supplies. As for us ladies it can be liberating to stop shaving...until bathing suit season comes along.

DO - Go on a Thrifty Shopping Spree

It might sound odd advising someone to shop for clothes when they’re trying to save money, but it does depend on what shops you’re frequenting. It’s time to avoid the design shops in the malls and instead focus on smaller corner stores where you might find a gem of an outfit for just a couple of dollars. This a great way to reinvent your wardrobe on a budget that anyone can afford. We’ve all heard stories of celebs that have managed to look fantastic without spending a fortune. You can check out celebs that do this on people.com, so, why can’t you?

DON'T - Keep Old Threads

We can get a little sentimental about our clothes and a tad clingy with old outfits. You might have a wardrobe packed full of clothes that you haven’t worn in years. If that’s the case, then it might just be time to get rid of them. If you do this, you can earn some money that you’ll be able to spend buying new outfits. You can see how this could be a massive win for your style budget. But you’ll also save time picking out an outfit because you’ll eliminate the clothes you’d never choose.

Take this advice, and you’ll be able to save money and still look great with your sense of style.
