..::Product Review::.. Gerber It's a Snap! All-in-One Cloth Diapers & Natural Inserts

THE REVIEW:  I was provided with the opportunity to test out the awesome new Gerber It's a Snap! All-in-One Cloth Diaper + inserts, and let you guys know how they fare.  I tested six natural inserts and two neutral diapers:  Orange and Sage.

As you probably know by now, I have two children. For my firstborn, I used disposable diapers-- I was young, and I was in the military. I needed something convenient.  Six years later, and along came my second child.  I did more extensive research this time around, and found that it would be both more economical and environmentally-friendly if my husband and I went the cloth diaper path.  I mean, disposable diapers really, really are not good for our Earth.  We must eventually pay for the convenience!

Needless to say, my research brought many, many brands of cloth diapers into light.  I have tried a few different brands, and some definitely performed better than others.  But, I can say for certain that I preferred them over disposables.  Sure, there is a bit of a learning curve-- but as time passes, you kind of just 'get' it.

I'll be honest here, I had no idea that Gerber was in the cloth diaper business.  Since I am reviewing these, I took a dive into the brand information and familiarized myself with everything.  Before I even tried these diapers out, I wanted to share my first impression:

+ The diapers are on par with the price point of their competition.  Cloth diapers can get expensive, but it is essentially a one-time purchase.

+ The quality of the diaper pocket is amazing.  It is thick and sewn to hold snugly, but not sacrificing your child's comfort.

+ They are very easy to stuff and the liners do not bunch upon stuffing.

+ You can definitely find the proper size for your child with all of the sizing options via the snaps.

The pack of diapers that I received can be found here and cost $23.99.  The pack of natural inserts that I received can be found here and cost $13.99.  Here are a few interesting factoids from Gerber:

Save Space! Stick to a supply of cloth diapers to make your luggage as light as possible. The unique and simple, It’s a Snap! snap closure design adjusts to fit babies 8 lbs. to 30 lbs, eliminating the need to buy multiple sizes. With a waterproof outer cover and 100% cotton liner with soft-dry technology, the cloth diaper wicks away moisture to keep babies dry and comfortable all day and night. Plus, the optional reusable diaper inserts are for added protection and absorbency.

Save Money! Did you know that a family will spend roughly $12,000 on child-related expenses in their baby’s first year of life? Often, more than $2,000 is spent on disposable diapers alone! Gerber’s All-in-One line is an affordable alternative to disposables, with the 3-piece starter set, the diaper 2-pack, and the diaper insert 6-pack – starting at just $13.99.

Save the Planet! Disposable diapers create about 3.5 million tons of landfill waste in the US every year. Due to increasing health concerns of chemicals in disposables and innovation that has made cloth diapers more hygienic and easy to use, millennial moms are making a move towards reusable. Gerber’s value-priced All-in-One diapers are a great way for new moms or parents looking to try cloth diapering to get started.

The front and the back of the diaper packaging gives you all pertinent information about the diaper.  I also really like that the back provides a recommended amount of diapers based on changes/day.  I know that a lot of new parents are always wondering how many to buy.

The liners are encased in a plastic snap case for protection, but does not lack any information.  The size is highlighted in the upper right hand corner to draw your eye to ensure you buy the proper size.  Both diapers and inserts feature the original Gerber baby front and center.

These diapers feature three (3) vertical snap size adjustments [for the legs] and ten (10) horizontal snap size adjustments [for the waist].  This all-in-one diaper handles babies from just 8 lbs to children up to 30 lbs!

The interior pocket is also cinched with elastic for added leak protection.  The cloth diapers that I used before did not have this feature (but boy, oh boy do I wish they had!).  The elastic does not pull and is very comfortable.

I really like that these diapers are so incredibly easy to stuff.  That used to be the worst part for me... the stuffing.  The diapers that I used to have only had one side that was open and required a lot of 'finagling' to get the insert to lie flat.  These diapers are open on both ends for simple stuffing.  You can even double line these diapers if you choose to!  It's that easy.

The inserts are available in two (2) sizes.  There is a small option, and a large option.  I have the large option, and they measure 4.75" x 14".  They are very soft and absorbent.  They are quite thick and stitched together well so avoid fraying.

These wear very easily.  My daughter is 32 lbs, so she is just about too big for this size, but they still fit with an adjustment to go.  She did not complain of discomfort or ask me to take it off.
