Turn Your Bedroom into the Best Room in Your Home

Everyone always talks about how the kitchen is the best room in the home, but I have to disagree. I think the bedroom is the best and most important room. It’s where we rest, sleep, relax, and, well... you know. So, it matters within the context of the home, and we need to make sure we have the perfect bedroom. I think it’s worth spending the extra time, effort, and money to make sure my bedroom is exactly as I want it to be.
So, how can you turn your bedroom into the best room of the home? Well, it’s all about gearing it towards what you want and would find useful. So, it’s important to prioritize different parts of the room and see how you can improve them. I would suggest you look at what is important within the bedroom, and what you want to get out of yours. Then you can take steps to ensure that yours is as great as it can be.
Comfort is Key--
You have to remember that the bedroom is the room in which you sleep and relax. And, because of that, I think it’s very important to make comfort a priority. If you can focus on making the bedroom as comfy as possible, you’re going to get so much more out of it. You can do this in a number of different ways, but I would suggest focusing on the bedding and the room temperature. We’ll talk more about these later, but you need to try to ensure you are as comfy as possible at all times.
Blinds Not Curtains--
I always hear people arguing over whether it’s better to have blinds or curtains in the home. Really, it depends on you, and on the style and build of your home. You need to remember that curtains are more befitting older homes, whereas blinds suit a more modern aesthetic. But, I have to say, when it comes to the bedroom blinds are the way forward. This is because it is so much easier to block out light by using blinds. And they are considerably less work and maintenance than curtains. If you don’t wish to get rid of your curtains, you can always store them somewhere, but blinds are certainly the way forward.
Choose the Right Mattress--
The key to the perfect bedroom is the right mattress, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! It’s essential to have the perfect mattress to help you sleep and rest more easily. There are so many choices around these days and a lot of different mattresses to choose from. But, in my experience memory foam mattresses are the best way forward. It’s important to try to find the best memory foam mattress on the market. To do this, you need to check out somewhere with a great range like bestbedsboutique.com. It’s crucial that you make sure you get your mattress right as this can affect how you sleep, and the way you feel each day.
Make Use of Space--
The big complaint about bedrooms is often related to how small they are, or at least the lack of space. So, you need to know how to make the most of space in a small bedroom, if you don’t have a large one. You can do this through careful use of Feng Shui, as well as sorting out an array of storage options. For instance, putting shelves up on the walls is a great way of allowing you to store more stuff. Under bed storage is also of paramount importance, too. There are other things I would suggest, too, if necessary, such as getting a smaller bed, or getting rid of some clothes.
Color Coordinate--
The color scheme within your home matters a lot and you need to be happy with it. If you want your bedroom to be the best possible room you need to ensure it’s color coordinated. It needs to look great and be easy on the eyes. Try to make sure it is a soothing color scheme to look at, but don’t be afraid to inject some color. You have to remember that your room needs to be to your liking, and I have found that the color scheme can play a big part in this. So spend some time thinking about how you want your room to look and try to achieve it as best you can.
The bedroom should also be a place where you can enjoy entertainment. On lazy Sunday's, you might want to spend some time under the covers reading or watching TV. So you need to make sure you have a means of entertainment to refer to. If you have a stash of books, you’ll also need strong lighting so you can read properly. A TV and DVD player would also be a good idea. Of course, you might want to get an Apple TV box so you can catch up on your Netflix shows, too!
Regulate Temperature--
You also need to understand that it’s very important to regulate the temperature in your bedroom. Okay, this might not add value to the home, or help you entice buyers. But, it is important for promoting your comfort and enjoyment of the room. You’ll probably have a radiator in there for those cold winter nights. And, you may want to leave the window open during the height of summer, so you get a pleasant breeze. But, you also need to think about getting a fan for the room in case the weather is too hot that you can’t sleep at night.
The bedroom is such an important room in the home. Since it’s the most private and personal room it needs to get care and attention. You should strive to get the bedroom to the exact level and quality that you want it to be. This is important to help you enjoy it more and to make the most out of your home. If you can look through my thoughts and musings and try to apply them to your situation you should be able to improve your bedroom.
