Ways to Update Your Child's Bedroom on Any Budget

With the new year here, we all want to make a few changes. For some it will be healthy goals, others perhaps financial. If you are looking to make a few changes to your home, though, I’ve got a few tips for you. I’m sharing some tips today for how to update your child’s bedroom. It doesn’t need to cost a lot either; there are options for varying budgets.

Create a Reading Corner:

Getting a child interested in reading is so important from an early age. If there is a cozy reading area in their bedroom, they will be more likely to want to go to it. Meaning they will want to read with you more, too. You may already have the things to use in it, meaning you just need to rearrange it all. You will just need a few blankets and cushions or perhaps a bean bag chair. A little bookcase would be great too. I have even seen people using a wooden spice rack and attaching it to the wall. If you paint it in a color to match the wall and then you can store different books in it. That is a low-cost option and it looks nice, too.

Update Their Bed:

A great way to get your little ones to sleep better is to get a new bed. You could just update their existing bed. You could get some new bedding or give the bed a bit of paint. If you are going for a brand new bed, it is a good idea to get them involved in choosing the bed. If they have a little choice in it, then I think it is easier to get them to use it. There are lots of different designs for children’s beds, from race cars to TV characters. You can view more unique kids beds at Cuckooland.com and browse the different styles.

Have an Art Wall:

You may already display their artwork on the wall. If not, this is a great idea. You will both see how their talents change and it adds color to the room. If you don’t want to stick the pictures directly onto the wall, you could get a large cork pinboard and secure that to the wall instead.

Another idea for an art wall is to use blackboard paint. Making a large blackboard area on a wall is fun. Blackboard paint and chalk are relatively inexpensive and you’ve got a ready-made craft for rainy days. Bonus!

Update the Accessories:

A quick and easy way to update a room is to change the accessories. How about changing the curtains or adding new blankets or cushions? This will add pops of color and can make a room look so different. You could change the lighting fixtures or add a new lamp. Lighting always makes the world of difference in a room, especially if it is a light and sparkly fixture.
