For most of the rooms in our houses, we tend to look for the best ways to maximize the space. Some rooms just have unused furniture that you can throw out. Others have more options for moving furniture around. It isn’t always as easy in our bedrooms.
Not all us are blessed with spacious bedrooms, so we want to make the most of the space. It is a room that we spend a lot of time in though so we want to be comfortable in it and make the most of the space that we do have. Here are a few ways that we can maximize small space in a bedroom.
Downsize the Bed:
The biggest thing in our bedrooms is, of course, the bed. It is the main point of the room and the most prominent feature. If you want to save a little space, then consider getting a smaller bed. I’m sure we would all love a super-king bed but is it really needed? Give it a thought and see if just a double is a viable option for you. When you change your bed, you will also need to downsize the mattress. You should get a good quality mattress to make sure that you are getting the best possible sleep. Think about a double mattress from John Ryan by Design. The more luxurious, the better!
Clean Out and Organize Your Closet:
It is vital to clean out your closet every so often. Think about what you don't wear anymore and what no longer fits. If you can give it away or sell it , then great. It doesn’t need to be taking up space in your closet or drawers. If you can, then downsize to a smaller closet then go for it. That is a sure fire way to make the most of the space in your bedroom.
It is such a good idea to store as much as you can in your closet as possible, though. The less clutter that you have out in the room, the larger the space you have will look. If there are clothes or toys all over every surface, it will make the room look even smaller than it is.
Use Your Walls:
If there are things all over the floor, it will make the room look small. Think about using the walls to store things. It won’t look as cluttered or small if everything is organized. Use bookshelves or built in shelving for your books, pictures and trinkets. You could even use some cute baskets on the shelving to hide away messy things. All anyone will see is the baskets and not what is inside.
For things like mirrors, they look great hung on the wall too, rather than being rested on the floor. If you have a TV in your room, think about getting that installed on the wall too. Then you won’t need a TV stand or coffee table in the room. It will save you floor space and as a result, save you room.
