..::Product Review::.. OxyRub Pain Relief Cream

My Review of OxyRub Pain Relief Cream

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"Pain is the single most common reason that patients seek medical care—and yet, there have been shockingly few truly effective solutions. NOT ANYMORE. Now, not even the worst chronic pain can stand up to the pain-relieving power of OxyRub. Whether you've been fighting arthritis pain for ages or just suffer from aches and pains after a round of golf or an afternoon in the garden, OxyRub pain relief cream can eliminate your pain—quickly.  OxyRub combines the pain-relieving power of menthol with a patented, proprietary oxygenated essential oil into a soothing, pleasant-smelling cream."

Packaging & Presentation of OxyRub Pain Relief Cream

This tube of OxyRub arrived to my house in perfect condition.  There were no rips, tears, leaks, nor defects during shipment.  The tube is white with blue and red accents.  There is a lot of information on the tube, so read it carefully.

The front of the tube labels the product and brand.  It explains what it is used for and features of the product:

+ Muscle and joint pain relief
+ Deep penetrating
+ Rapidly absorbed

The back of the tube is informative, too.  The drug facts, uses, warnings, directions, storage information, and inactive ingredients are listed here.  The company's contact information is printed towards the bottom.  There is also a quote from Dr. Joseph Pergolizzi (the formulator) as well as a QR code that you can scan for further information.

There is a lot number and an expiration date stamped into the back of this tube.

The tube has a flip-top cap, and the product comes out when you squeeze the tube.

There is also a foil safety seal underneath the cap, so make sure you peel this off before use!

My Personal Experience with OxyRub Pain Relief Cream

I have actually strayed away from pain creams and have been using more roll-ons and sprays.  I have never tried OxyRub before, so I figured that I would give it a chance and see if it is indeed different like they claim.

First, I want to explain its consistency.  It's definitely a cream.  It is white, but has a strong menthol-esque fragrance.  It's a very soft cream, and it spreads easily and coats well.

So, it's true.  This stuff works great.  I use a plastic glove to apply it, and it works within minutes.  There is a little residue after application, but it's a small price to pay for some actual relief.

Pros of OxyRub Pain Relief Cream
  • The cream is very soft and spreads evenly and coats well.
  • The menthol fragrance is very relaxing.
  • Works great on muscle and joint pain.
  • Proven to work in a double-blind, randomized, controlled head-to-head study.

Cons of OxyRub Pain Relief Cream
  • I haven't found any cons of this pain cream.
Summary

As a person that suffers with pretty awful upper back pain (and most recently left side neck pain), I am in constant need of some type of pain relief.  I have tried a lot of different brands, from solids to gels and everything in between.  While touching the cream isn’t my exact favorite method of application (I prefer the roll on, spray, or stick types), if I use a disposable plastic glove this is very easy to apply.  If you put it directly on the points that hurt, you can feel it get down deep into the muscles and work from the inside out.  I have not had a problem with it being too hot (like capsaicin), but just the right amount of relief.  I really like this one, and I reach for it a lot when it comes to my arsenal of pain relief!

I have used numerous other creams over the years for chronic to severe arthritis of my back and neck, and this product actually works. I rub it on before shaving, and by the time I am done, I can straighten up without much discomfort.
