My Review of Cujo Control Dog Training Collar

What is it exactly?

     From the website. . .
"This training kit will help train your dog and maintain his performance. There are 3 training tools to choose from - tone, vibrate, or shock. The kit includes one wireless remote, one collar/receiver, and one USB battery charger, along with a test light and contact points.

Some customers have seen results in as little as one try. This is a safe, humane, effective training tool that can provide incredible results when used correctly and responsibly."

I was sent the dog training collar from Cujo Control to review.

The price for this training system is $79.48.  Shipping is free with Amazon Prime.

Packaging & Presentation of Cujo Control Dog Training Collar

I am happy to say that this training collar arrived in great condition.  It was packaged inside of a flip-top box that was sized perfectly.  The box is gray with black accents.  It's kind of plain looking, but it gets the point across.

The front of the box labels the product, brand, and benefits of this collar:

+ Extremely fast way to train
+ Great for off-leash walks and hiking
+ Keeps your dog out of dangerous situations
+ Walk your dog perfectly without pulling or jumping
+ Prevents unwanted behavior like barking and chewing
+ Accelerates obedience training

The back of the box lets you know that a portion of each training collar purchase helps support dog rescues across the US.  I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love that about this company.

The front tab of the box outlines the features of this collar:

+ (8) levels of vibration, sound, or shock to test your dog's response
+ Waterproof and rainproof
+ Trains 2 dogs at the same time up to 600 yards
+ 100% rechargeable lithium ion batteries
+ Adjustable collar fits all dogs (small, medium, and large breeds)
+ Safe, humane, effective training tool

You will also find the box seal on the front tab.  It keeps the box closed during shipment.  Both sides of the box are the same.  They have the brand logo as well as the website information listed here.

Like I mentioned earlier, this is presented in a flip-top box and everything is nested into its own compartment.

You get an instruction manual, a wireless remote, the collar itself (with receiver), a USB charger, and test light and contacts.

The user guide is pretty straightforward, written very clearly, and really details everything that you need to know about using this.

My Personal Experience with Cujo Control Dog Training Collar

This is not the first training collar that I have ever used (we had a Tri-tronics model a few years ago).  We have always had great success with training collars because it is a firm, yet completely humane method of training to get the results that you desire.  This is a pretty nice system.

First-- familiarize yourself with the training collar's workings.  You can really hurt your pet if you do not understand completely how it operates.  There are different levels (and modes!) of functional delivery.

Now, the most imperative component is the wireless remote.  There are quite a few buttons on here, and the user guide really gives you the functions behind them.  There is a nice screen so you can see what settings you are at.  There is also a belt clip on the back for easy carry.  I find that this works best with a lanyard-- it doesn't come with one, but they are easy to find online.  Heck, I'm pretty sure that you may have one lying around the house somewhere.  Anyway, this wireless remote reaches 600 yards.  That's a pretty big range.  Keep in mind that the more interference you have, the greater risk of reduced range...

It's easy to charge this.  Both the receiver and the remote use the same charger.  I am going to say that the little rubber charging 'door' (I'm not sure what you would call this thing) broke off with my first use.  I wasn't extra rough with it, I just don't think it was put on well.  It's broken-- there's no way to get it back on.  It's not crucial to operation, but it keeps the dust out of the charging port, so that was kind of annoying.

The actual receiver is pronged and features the company logo on the outside.  The prongs are what delivers the shocks and vibrations, so you don't want these to go deep into your dog's neck.  Make sure you have the proper fit.  This is very important.  ALSO, do not leave this collar on all of the time.  This is a TRAINING collar-- not an everyday collar.  Only use this when you are training.  If you keep this on for a prolonged period of time, you risk infection and pain.  That's not good.

The training collar is fully adjustable-- from 8.0" to 21.0".  It has a plastic buckle closure.

It works with my dog perfectly!

Pros of Cujo Control Dog Training Collar
  • Great range!
  • I love that this company donates a portion of their proceeds to dog rescues across the US.
  • Very wide variety of methods-- sound, vibration, shock.
  • You can use this on two different dogs-- the remote's screen allows you to see your customized settings.
  • Fully adjustable collar that fits small, medium, and large dogs.
Cons of Cujo Control Dog Training Collar
  • The rubber dust cover on my wireless remote broke off.

Dogs are great and loyal companions, but a little training is always necessary.  We took in a German shepherd mix, and she is just the greatest.  She is extremely intelligent, and that makes for a very good dog, and a very trying dog.  This collar fits great (I love that it’s adjustable because your dog can grow along with it).  All of the tools and extras that you need are included.  The range is very nice, too.  We live on a pretty large lot, and I love being able to correct her from a distance.  Since it is waterproof, weather isn’t a factor.  I haven’t had any problems with this so far.  If you decide to get this one, be sure that you know that this is NOT a collar to wear all of the time.  I keep it on when she goes outside, or for a few hours (sparingly) during daily training.  I do not use this as a bark-deterrent because I want my dog to bark… other than that, I have had great success with this and I definitely recommend it.

Pet Stop batteries are compatible with Invisible Fence systems that are more durable than other brands. If you need to replace the batteries for your Pet Stop dog collar and fence, 24 Hour Batteries can help!

@Lenacharles ... lol I can't tell you how annoying it is to have to replace the batteries! Thanks for the link.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss that, I feel strongly about this and so really like getting to know more on this kind of field. Do you mind updating your blog post with additional insight? It should be really useful for all of us. http://regionalbar.com/wireless-fence/
