..::Book Review + Giveaway::.. 'The Comfort of Black' by Carter Wilson

My Review of 'The Comfort of Black' by Carter Wilson

Overview

"Though they seem to have everything, Hannah Parks has watched her husband, Dallin, become increasingly distant. Her hope is buoyed when the couple decides to start a family, but what Dallin reveals in his sleep one night rocks Hannah to her core. As she starts to investigate a much darker side of Dallin than she ever knew existed, Hannah peels away the layers of a diseased relationship closely tied to her own abusive past. When Dallin attempts to have Hannah abducted, she is forced to run, doing so with the aid of a man named Black—an ex-con and expert at helping people disappear. Together they must keep Hannah safe from her husband's far-reaching grasp, all the while trying to solve the mystery behind Dallin's sudden violence. Does Hannah's dark family history hold the key to her survival?"

My Personal Review

Well, then.

I love books.  I read a lot of them.  HOWEVER, I cannot even begin to remember the last time I have ever read a book in one day.

Actually, yes I can.  About 2 days ago-- with this one.  I could NOT put it down.  This has been one of the best books that I have read so far.  I must say that I am disappointed that I read it so fast because now I miss it, and I want to read more.  Sequel, please?

I read a lot of suspense, mystery, and drama-thriller types of books.  They are in my 'comfort zone', and it is what I naturally gravitate towards.  With that being said, I thought that I would be a little hard to trick when it comes to these styles because I pretty much expect, anticipate, and call everything coming up in the chapters.  Nope.  This one got me.

This is a book filled with non-stop action, very few pages of downtime (if any), and a definite page-turner.  I'd be surprised if you didn't read it in a day.  It's not a short book, either.  It's an average size of 280 pages.

From page one, the scenery was so real and the characters developed gradually (but thoroughly) with the help of background stories and memories.

I never saw what was coming, and for that-- I am astonished.  This book was able to conjure feelings that only a remarkable and talented author is able to convey such emotion through the written word.

Be prepared for a lot of twists, a lot of exciting action, and even a few tears.  I'm so lucky that I was able to read this book before the release-- it's coming out on August 4th, 2015.
